C9-C14-PFCA Regulation

Here you can find answers.

PFAS, PTFE, and in particular the so-called C9–C14 PFCAs are currently attracting a lot of attention.

There is often talk in the media about a “PFAS ban” – which can lead to uncertainty among manufacturers and retailers of cookware and bakeware.
With this information, we would like to answer the most frequently asked questions and explain what the regulation means for ILAG coatings in concrete terms.

Are ILAG coatings affected by the C9–C14 regulation?

ILAG does not use C9–C14 PFCAs as an ingredient.
Our coatings are REACH-compliant and meet the required EU limit values

Does “compliant” mean that something is still contained?

The limit values are in the “parts per billion” range (ppb).
Our products are proven to fall below these values.
In practice, this means that ILAG coatings are compliant to EU regulations.

Do the regulations apply to PTFE coatings?

Yes – PTFE coatings generally fall within the scope of the regulations.
However, they may continue to be used if the applicable limits are complied with. ILAG conducts continuous testing to ensure that our PTFE systems and all PFAS-containing products we use fully comply with these requirements.

To what extent do ceramic coatings offer an alternative?

Ceramic coatings are based on a fundamentally different technology. Due to their chemical structure, they do not contain any PFAS and are not subject to current EU regulations. They are therefore a suitable option for consumers who consciously want to avoid systems containing PFAS.

Are other systems besides ceramics also regulatory safe?

Yes – our PTFE systems and all PFAS-containing products we use have also been tested and fully comply with the applicable EU requirements.
ILAG monitors this continuously so that all our coating systems can be used safely and in compliance with regulations.

As a distributor, do I have to provide any proof?

Yes.
As a distributor, you are responsible for the products you place on the market and therefore also for the compliance requirements.

On request, we provide corresponding declarations of conformity that you can use for your customers.

Is there a possibility that a product may have to be withdrawn from the market due to legal requirements?

All relevant legal requirements are regularly monitored by ILAG to ensure that our coatings are always compliant.
For you as a partner, this means that our products remain reliably available on the market and you do not have to worry about them being withdrawn at short notice due to regulatory changes.

Should legal requirements change in the future, we will inform our partners at an early stage and proactively adapt our systems to ensure permanent market access.
