Honeycomb coatings are based on ceramic-reinforced sol-gel systems that are embedded in a structured surface.

Technological structure:

Raised structural elements (Honeycomb): etched or embossed; form a protective relief and can be shown as metallic-visible ridges.
Recessed non-stick coating: positioned in the valleys of the structure and protected by the raised elements.
Ceramic-reinforced Sol-Gel base layer: supports system stability and helps reduce cracking and abrasion.
Metal substrate: e.g. stainless steel as the base.

This system architecture provides targeted protection for the functional coating—without compromising nonstick properties or heat resistance.
