From 30 September to 2 October 2025, the 12th International Conference on Food Contact Compliance took place in Baveno, Italy – one of Europe’s leading forums for discussion on food-contact materials.
Dr Fiona Woudenberg-Domokos, Head of Regulatory Affairs at ILAG Industrielack AG, presented on behalf of the European Cook and Bakeware Association (FEC) under the title “Bisphenol S (BPS) in Food-Contact Coatings – Regulatory Status and Industry Perspective.”
Her presentation focused on the current and upcoming regulatory framework for Bisphenol S, its technical role in PES-based coating systems, and the industry’s collaborative response to potential future restrictions.
As highlighted in the FEC conference report, the discussions in Baveno demonstrated how closely chemical safety, circularity and innovation are now interlinked. Alongside the BPS Project, topics such as PFAS regulation, NIAS assessment, and global regulatory alignment were central to the agenda.
The conference confirmed that effective compliance relies on dialogue, expertise, and proactive collaboration. ILAG continues to contribute actively to this process – advancing safe, high-performance, and future-ready coating systems for food-contact applications.
